THE ROOM

The final weeks of the summer exhibition ‘SUMMERTIME’26’ are currently on display at THE ROOM gallery. The exhibition features works by Ina Budrytė, Kamilė Tretjakaitė, Emilija Kočiūnaitės, and Aurelija Zaburaitė. Curator Aurelija Zaburaitė describes the exhibition: ‘The intensely blazing sun rises higher, its rays piercing right through the earth’s surface. Melting from the heat, silhouettes and creatures come into view. The figures and portraits are ephemeral; affected by the intense heat, they dissolve down to their outlines or cut into the landscape like dark stains. Their gaze vanishes too—leaving only dots, lost in the collective whole, dried out by the sun. The landscape itself empties out as if scorched by the sun, leaving behind only the clean traces of activity and a few ambiguous small objects. The colours of nature distort and begin to melt in an apocalyptic light. Is it just a mirage, imagery caught in a horizon struck by sunstroke? Or perhaps dreams induced by an eternal walk through the desert? In the sand dunes and wastelands, nothing useful remains, save for a refreshing spring that suddenly glimmers like an oasis.’
