Vilnius Gallery Weekend (VGW), launched in 2016, is a festival that invites the public to go on a journey across various art spaces in Vilnius. VGW is organised by the public institution “Galerijų savaitgalis” together with the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association (LIAA), to introduce the public to art spaces within the city, introducing new initiatives and cultivating an enduring culture of gallery visits. Each year, VGW marks the symbolic beginning of the exhibition season.
The 2025 VGW programme, Liminality, invites a focus on the notions of transition, change, and uncertainty as urgent concerns of the present. These themes are explored through contemporary sculpture, questioning its boundaries and multifaceted nature—when sculpture becomes not only an object, but also a process, and space turns into an experience. The programme asks: how can we live between states, when the choice, direction or decision has not yet become clear?
For the second year VGW is inviting galleries, art spaces and their curatorial teams to curate the programme of the art weekend.
